KAMLOOPS’ FIRST FIRE HALL

Kamloops’ first fire hall was a wood frame building constructed in 1905 | Stop #06

Where the Fire Bell Rang First

Kamloops’ first fire hall was built in 1905 as a wood-frame structure. At the time, a team of well-trained horses and a fire wagon were housed on site, ready to respond when needed. Fire call boxes placed throughout the city were used to alert the volunteer firefighters.

In 1911, Kamloops entered a new era of firefighting with the purchase of its first motorized fire trucks, marking a shift away from horse-drawn responses and toward a more modern fire service.
