1912 Bank Building: A Statement in Brick
Built between 1911 and 1912, this brick bank building was considered one of the finest of its kind in Kamloops. Designed to impress, it featured a grand front façade with brick columns, arched windows, and striped awnings, all set against the backdrop of an unpaved street lined with tall trees and ornate cluster lights.
Though some original details have faded over time, remnants of an elaborate frieze are still visible along the building’s top edge, offering a glimpse into the craftsmanship and ambition of early 20th-century commercial architecture.
Today, the building remains a quiet monument to Kamloops’ financial and architectural history during the city’s formative years of rapid growth and civic pride.
